Trey Returns To Princeton For One-Night Hometown Gig

Trey returned to Princeton last night for a one-night, sold-out acoustic performance. Joined by the Scorchio String Quartet, Trey treated a dedicated audience to a set full of Phish staples, solo material, and newly penned songs. A confident Trey stayed mostly on acoustic guitar, though switched to piano a few times (“Bar 17,” “Gone,” and “Wolfman’s Brother”) in a classic Neil Young move. “Wolfman’s” even saw Trey return to guitar for the jam. The quartet added an extra dimension, breathing new life into songs like “The Divided Sky” and “Stash.” Longtime companion and Phish lyricist, Tom Marshall joined Big Red on stage for a beautiful rendition of “Strange Design.” For the encore, Trey debuted the newly penned “Julie,” co-written by new pal, Amanda Green. Fans may recall Trey mentioning this song over the summer in an interview with Relix. All in all, it was a great night of music and a rare chance to see Trey in such an intimate setting.
